If your mixes are peaking but not distorting - is...
OK, here’s the thing:
Most people record WAAAY too hot! When you’re recording at 24 bit, you shouldn’t even be hitting yellow on the pro tools meters. Your preamp should be reading just around or above ANALOG zero. I try not to let my meters go above -12 in the digital realm. That’s where your analog gear will sound the best! Also, plug ins that emulate hardware...
