Mastering is incredibly important. You need your music loud enough to stand up to other music when it’s in a playlist. Do you give a lot of suggestions when you produce...
There are three kinds of producers. (1)Ones who just lets artists be themselves and are pretty transparent, (2)ones who really color the artist with their own sound, and (3)ones who are somewhere in between. Most producers think that they’re number 3s, when in fact most are 1s and 2s.
I try as much as possible to be a number 3, but in actuality, I lean much more towards the number 2 side....
