Do none of you remember about flat 3rds?!? FLAT 3RDS MAKE MINOR KEYS! IT’S ALL ABOUT TONAL CENTER! F minor might have the same notes as Ab major but they have different tonal centers! They have the same notes because they are RELATIVE to each other…as in…F minor has the same notes as Ab minor but because the scale starts on F the 3rd is flat! FLAT 3rd!!! Consequently Ab major does NOT have a flat 3rd even though it has the same notes as F minor because it STARTS on Ab, NOT on F! YOU WENT TO MUSIC SCHOOL FOR SO MANY YEARS!!! STOP POISONING THE MINDS OF THE PUBLIC!!!! GAHHHHH!!! DISAGREEEEEE WITH DAN ROMER!!!!!! DISAGREEEEEE!!!!!!

But Shira, you’re ignoring the beautiful universal truth that tonality is a cycle. If I start going into specifics, it’s possible to play devil’s advocate on the wording of the points, so I won’t. But look in your heart. You know that a minor key and it’s relative major key are genetically the same. They may have a different gravity to a conditioned ear, but they are identical twins who grew up in different houses.
